Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay, born August 24, 1972, in Long Beach California. When she was a young girl, DuVernay's aunt Denise encouraged her passion for artistic expression and creative thinking. Aunt Denise worked the night shift as a nurse, so she could follow her passion for art literature and theater in the daytime. She showed DuVernay to the film of 1961 West Side Story and DuVernay became enthralled by the film. DuVernay was able to see through her mother's example that art can be an activist vehicle. DuVernay grew up with her mother who was aware of her social circle and taught her to utilize the arts as a means to express herself. DuVernay was brought up in Compton by her parents, however she was able to spend the summers in Lowndes County Alabama. This is where DuVernay's father's family has been for generations. Her father was a witness to the historic march of the Civil Rights Movement across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. It was located in Selma Alabama, a neighboring city. DuVernay toured Selma in the summer and was motivated to make a documentary on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In the year 1990, DuVernay graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood California. After graduation she was enrolled at her first year at the University of California Los Angeles where she earned certificates in English and African American studies. DuVernay started producing for broadcast journalism while she was in her the college. Her career began as an assistant to CBS News in the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembers being assigned to sit at the house of one member of the jury and look through their trash. When she was dissatisfied with journalistic work by the assignments she was assigned she decided to pursue the field of publicity. DuVernay was hired right after graduating from college as a junior publicist at an unassuming studio. The year 1999 was the time she established her own business that specialized in public relations, The DuVernay Agency. Apart from PR, the agency developed several lifestyle websites like Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley was born under the name of. She is a popular actress that has been in American Experience (1987), A More Perfect Union (2009) along with other films. Autumn appeared as Rose from A More Perfect Union as also Anna Payne from American Experience.
